Make the most of it

When you have a two-day congress in Cape Town during the beautiful summer month of November, we would strongly suggest extending your trip by a few days to make the most of your time in this wondrous city. Cape Town has a lot to offer, and it would be a perfect opportunity to explore some of its highlights.

A possible itinerary could look like:

Friday

Fly to Cape Town International Airport, grab a bite to eat and settle into your accommodation.

Tuesday

Relax and explore even more of the iconic Big Six attractions or other sights or attend to remote working.

Saturday

Enjoy spending time with new colleagues from the Congress.

Saturday

Enjoy a relaxing day at your accommodation after a long flight. Read a book and watch TV.

Have a delicious breakfast, pack your bags, and travel back home.

If you have time to explore Cape Town.

Day 1 (Sunday):

​

  • Table Mountain: Start your trip with a visit to Table Mountain. Take the cable car or hike to the top to enjoy breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding landscapes.

  • V&A Waterfront: After descending from Table Mountain, head to the V&A Waterfront for lunch. Explore the shops, visit the Two Oceans Aquarium, and take a scenic boat cruise around the harbour.

Day 2 (Monday):
 

  • Robben Island: Take a morning ferry to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Join a guided tour to learn about the island's history and its significance in South Africa's struggle against apartheid.

  • District Six Museum: After returning from Robben Island, visit the District Six Museum to gain further insights into the city's apartheid history and forced removals.
     

Day 3 (Tuesday):
 

  • Cape Point and Boulders Beach: Spend the day exploring the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Visit the Cape Point lighthouse and marvel at the stunning coastal scenery. Then, head to Boulders Beach to see the African penguin colony.

  • Chapman's Peak Drive: On your way back to Cape Town, drive along the scenic Chapman's Peak Drive for breathtaking ocean views.
     

Day 4 (Wednesday):

 

  • Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden: Start your day at Kirstenbosch, one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world. Take a leisurely walk and enjoy the diverse flora.

  • Bo-Kaap and City Centre: Explore the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap and learn about Cape Malay culture. Then, wander around the city centre, visiting landmarks like Greenmarket Square and Company's Garden.
